The hotel is laid out in a horse-shoe of buildings that looks over a central garden, two pools, beach restaurant and watersports to the surreal blue sea. Turtle Beach Barbados has extensive facilities including a kids club, gym, conference rooms and a small spa…”

Brian Lara hits a scintillating century at Kensington Oval for the second time in 2005. He was already scorching along at better than a run-a-ball at lunch, but in the afternoon session he really cut loose. He peppered the boundary all round the ground and by the time he fell, shortly before tea, he had faced just 120 balls. He made a calculated attack on the Pakistani spinners – Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi – to such an extent that Kaneria was removed from the attack after eight expensive over as Younis Khan, Pakistan’s stand-in captain, tried to restrain Lara. The seamers were not exempt from the full force of Lara’s bat, either, as he brought out his full array of drives, cuts and pulls. Anything seemed possible until he was bowled through the gate by Kaneria – after the legpsinner was bravely brought back into bowl – as Lara aimed another expansive drive through the covers. Kaneria deserves some plaudits for holding his nerve, a lesser bowler would have crumbled under such a powerful onslaught. (Cricinfo)

    to all those having an aneurysm.”Brian Lara is One of the best batsmen of my generation, if not the best ever.” Sachin Tendulkar
    “Lara is the greatest batsman I have ever bowled to.” Glenn McGrath .
    genius is just not about numbers how can u say that lara is not consistent when he retired with a avg of 53 and only 6 not outs. Lara produced some of the finest and greatest knocks ever in the greatest fashion with the upmost skill and entertainment l

    @MATMICSHA
    God alone what stats you are looking at:
    as of 01 Jan 03
    BCL
    7572@49.49, 18 100s
    But anyway Im getting a little fed up of this
    so im outta here
    good bye

    @MATMICSHA
    Oh dude.
    SRT was the one actually unique. He just looks orthodox.
    He hardly bothers getting his feet to the ball, mainly punches, is totally innovative- uppercuts, paddle sweeps, flicks from outside off to midwicket etc etc…Just his stance make him looks orthodox. Actually there is not much orthodox about him.

    Lara is actually a clone of previous batsmen. take a look at some Roy Fredericks clips etc. right here on youtube.

  10. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 11:58 am

    @SonofPs i didn’t say WI wasn’t lucky.i just felt that you were trying to down grade that performance,in every great innings i saw the batsmen or the bowler had a bit of luck with them.i watch almost all of SRT and BCL innings,they are two very different type of player.every thing about SRT is correct(the way it is written in the “book”),BCL wrote his own “book” he did the impossible he brake down the barriers and made new ones.have seem a player like BCL be4?if not than he is not over rated.

  11. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 12:07 pm

    @SonofPs NOV 2003 lara had 22 tons and 41 50s compare to SRT 31 tons and 35 50s.SRT had 8811( you get something rite wow)but lara had 8626 in November 03 and avg 51.keep mine SRT playing a year before BCL and it didn’t took lara a year to catch up to him when he was injure.he was not better than lara he just score more tons than him but lara score more double tons and BCL played under way more pressure than SRT. A fit SRT score 100s but BCL score 100s,200s,300s,400and 500.only BCL could do that.

  12. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 12:53 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    Oh well, apologies for calling you names.
    Just a little frustration since I’ve watched just about all these innings live. Not little “Youtube highlights”
    Undoubtedly a great innings, but one would really have to stretch ones imagination to say that lady luck wasn’t on Lara’s and the WIndies side.
    And , trust me, all so called “great inn” require luck.
    The mishits/edges falling in nomans land, dropped catches, umpire decisions in your favour-
    Not ONLY for yourself but ALSO teammates

  13. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 12:54 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    So UNderstood?
    Not only do you not understand simple english.
    You do not even know how to look up basic stats bases.
    Have you been bunking school lately?

  14. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 1:42 pm

    @MATMICSHA

    Till 01/01/03,The big 3:
    SRT 8811@ 57.6 31 hun
    BCL 7572@49.5 18 hun
    (SRT has 11 inn LESS)

    The toughest cricket in the world in the last 20yrs ? Vs AUS — IN AUS.

    Tendulkar : avg 58.53 with 6 hundreds.
    Lara : avg 41.97 with 4 hundreds (inspite of playing 5 more inn)
    And Tendulkar has also played longer than any modern day batsman against Aus in Aus from 92 to 2008. So, the most varied attack for the longest time.
    Case Rested.

  15. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 2:09 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    The problem is that you dont understand ENGLISH.
    I have already explained that till SRTs injurys he was well ahead of all batsmen including lara.
    Till 2003 Lara had 18 100s to SRTs 31.
    Do you understand english?
    TEndulkar fit = miles and miles better than lara.
    Tenduklar injured = many other batsmen will obviously perform better.
    Understand?

  16. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 2:46 pm

    @SonofPs why don’t SRT pile on runs? thats because he can’t!!! Why don’t SRT score in high pressure situation?because he crumbles under pressure.Why SRT only had 5 more tons than lara when lara retire(with all of lara flops)? why SRT was 1000+ runs less when they both were 123 matches?which player is more entertaining Lara or SRT? who would you rather watch when they both get going? by the way you are taking about plain avg. since you been around for so long why don’t you get your facts right?

  17. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 2:56 pm

    @SonofPs listen u senile old man with down syndrome(sorry for disrespecting you) lara had more runs than SRT by the end of 03( thats just before SRT was “injure” or just after) check SRT and lara record against the best bowlers in the 90s and i would not get into who play spin better. the reason why he has so many runs is because he played more matches than anyone and he is consistent.

  18. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 3:29 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    When someother player gets :
    1) 31000 international runs
    2)vs all countries,and all bowling attacks in the world for over 20yrs
    3)EQUAL or better records home and away
    4)gets some 93 international hundreds
    5)And even after 20 yrs AND serious career threatening injuries
    he
    STILL
    has an average as good or better than his peers (understand?) not just plain avg.
    THEN
    we will talk.
    TIll then lara,ponting etc will be just footnotes in the Tendulkar era.

  19. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 4:24 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    The guy is TOTALLY overrated.
    the thing is he is very stylish
    and makes SURE to pile on the runs when the going is good in order to cover up his umpteen flops

  20. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 4:26 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    listen u little shit- ive been watching cricket from the 80s
    not silly littly youtube highlights like u kids.
    there were some 3 close LBW shouts turned down, he was knocked right on thehelmet , warne dropped him and healy dropped an ABSOLUTE sitter.
    ambrose played out some TEN overs against the same attack in the end…
    so dont kid yourself

  21. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 4:30 pm

    @SonofPs he was drop once take a look again , lets see SRT make runs under pressure like that, he can’t because he folds under pressure. lucky inn because he was drop once?Lara has a better 4th inn avg(cricinfo.com).how many more 100s SRT had when lara retire?How many more 200s lara had?SRT avg was better,he played more matches and still had less runs than lara, way?in 05 SRT avg 57 and 1999 he avg 59. and by the end of 03 lara had more runs than SRT. so your 1 excuse didn’t help lara!!!

  22. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 5:06 pm

    @SonofPs there you go again talking about avg,didn’t i teach you some simple math, anyway if you are basing greatness by avg,SRT is the 13 greatest to ever played the game and he is not better than Kallis and Sangakkara,If you agree than you right,but i don’t agree with your reason or your definition of a great player. what is your definition of a great player?A player who made 501 400,375,277 etc. is over rated? lol you really hate lara because he achieve more than SRT in test.

  23. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 5:21 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    Of course. SRT is the greatest
    The ONLY reason lara and the others are anywhere close is coz SRT got several injuries from 03-06.
    Till 03 check the stats in any form you like:
    away, strike rate, 100s, avg…..SRT is king
    lara is a hometown and dead rubber bully.
    even the 153 (the ONLY inn lara has won in the 4th inn) had 2 dropped catches, and loads of LUCK not just for him but also for his partners.
    SRT avg is better in the 4th inn even in overall figures.
    Lara is an overrated bully

  24. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 6:18 pm

    @SonofPs lara 121 matches =11174+(54 avg), SRT 123 matches=10134(57avg)Just that SRT not outs which r a by product of his snail type boring batting which had enhanced his average a bit lol lol.get your facts right SRT never carry India because he is a choker,he crumbles under pressure. if Tendulkar was the greatest then nobody would have compared Lara to him.

  25. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 7:14 pm

    @SonofPs LOL, you really don’t know much about cricket history, SRT never carry India. Lara was at his best from 1990 – 1996 when WI was doing OK. here is some fun facts, SRT start playing in 1989 he start doing well till 1993 that 4 years if you can’t count, the guy that carry india in the early 90s was Azharuddin. like i said SRT need partnerships if the players at the other end start outing he will get out soon as well.

  26. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 7:35 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    Lara is the most overrated batsman.
    Hometown bully, dead rubber bully.
    INFACT WI had a better team than India in the 90s
    In the 90s SRT was King.
    Lara improved is record in the mid 2000s by piling on runs from 03-06.
    In the 2000s lara did carry the team, but in the 1990s SRT carried the team……
    and SRT has done MUCH better till 03 than the rest of his career……
    so your so called argument is absolute NONSENSE

  27. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 8:01 pm

    @SonofPs the biggest weekness i can say with SRT is that he needs partnerships to stay on the pitch, if the players on the non striking end are not being able to form partnerships, he tends to give his wicket.You comparing a man carring a load vs a man with free hands,lara played cricket under tremendous pressure, He will be in the crease when the scores read like 20/2 or 20/3, from that he has to carry on, whereas Sachin has got so much of Batting support in his team.

  28. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 8:36 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    Lara only improved his record vs SA in the 2000s , post donald.
    vs Aus IN aus lara avg some 40.
    lara is a hometown and spin bully.
    SRT is king everywhere

  29. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 9:33 pm

    @MATMICSHA
    Garbage.
    stop worshipping lara.
    ask saqlain ,warne etc what they think of tendulkar and lara.
    the only thing was lara was more attacking vs spin.
    vs pace (genuine raw pace- 145/150 k and above)…tendulkar was in a diff. league.
    check out how lara played donald at his best…and then check out tendular.
    Tenduklar is the King.

  30. MATMICSHA on August 5th, 2010 10:19 pm

    @SonofPs Idiot, most of the players you claim to say SRT was better didn’t said anything of the sort. Warne did say that SRT was better and murli said Lara was better, how many batsmen you know that played murli and warne better than lara? have you ever watch Lara play spin, Lara treat all of them like beginners, murli said SRT only rely no his sweep shot.how many memorable innings SRT played? if there is any was he batting when the last ball was bowl?LOL you need to stop worshiping SRT,

  31. SonofPs on August 5th, 2010 11:16 pm
