How expensive is food in Aruba compared to the US?

Can you answer Candy D’s question about Caribbean?:

In other words, a meal for two adults and a teenager would be around $50-60 at a sit down restaurant where we live and around $15-20 through the drivethrough. How does that compare to Aruba?

Caribbean Feedback: I don’t know where you live,

    BUT,

I live in the states in Cinci,

    AND,

    I can find a suitable

    SIT DOWN,

    restaurant for four for

    WAY LESS,

    than 50-60

    DOLLARS.

There is CCs Pizza other hamburger and pizza places, Chinese, Buffets. You must be an Aruban.

Caribbean Feedback: If that’s what you’re accustomed to paying, Aruba won’t seem expensive to you. The Burger King in Oranjestad is in the range you gave for fast food, and you could get dinner for three for under $60 at restaurants like Salt and Pepper and Jamaica Me Crazy.

Caribbean Feedback: I’ve been there twice; the last time was early this year. I’ll guess that you will pay about 25-30 percent more for food in Aruba than you pay in the U.S.

If you’re concerned about food prices, I recommend you consider taking food with you and also buying it there at the grocery stores, which are mainly located midway between Orangestad and Palm and Eagle beaches. We saved a lot of money that way, and it was only a minor inconvenience.

Caribbean Feedback: Hey im local, and i must say. It really depends what type of restaurant you go to. You could easly get foor for 3 people for 50$. On Aruba Whopper at BK costs around 6-7$. So it really about the same price. People should stop saying Aruba’s food is SO expensive. It’s not. Depending on where you go. If your only eating at restaurants in hotels or around hotels it is probably gonna be expensive around 30$ p.p. or more. But if you eat at small restaurants 50$ will cover you easly.

Caribbean Feedback: It depends on where you go. The takeout would be that range but the sit down meals like Amazonia, El Goucho etc…would be more expensive.

There is a mix of places, if you want inexpensive take out there are a few places.
