Aruba – History

May 30, 2010 by Caribbean Vacation and Island Tips
Filed under Caribbean Islands

Aruba’s path to the present day is marked by the mystery of ochre-colored rock drawings left behind by island shamans, the enterprising spirit of European adventurers and settlers and the diverse experiences and traditions brought by the many nationalities that have since sought out the island as either a new home or temporary resting place. The look of the people, the languages they speak and the innate hospitality that manifests itself in the Aruban psyche is the result of a multi-cultural mix that reflects a rich past. Pff.. Yeah . It’s very sad, that a child is killed there. but.. that doesn’t change my opinion of Aruba… I mean.. in every country/island someone gets killed.. There are crazy people everywhere. But don’t blame the island :D

It’s pitty that we in Aruba don’t have a big and international press to tell the people around the world the real story of what happend! cause CNN, ABC, NANNY GRACE, DR.PHIL, all the american press told a lie! they were telling something completly different just to get ratings! BUT HEY! IT DOEZN’T MATTER WERE A ONE HAPPY ISLAND! AND HAVEN’T YOU ARUBAN SEEN THE PAPERNEWS RECENTLY? OUR TOURISM % IS HIGHER THEN EVER! SO ARUBA IS STILL GOING STRONG! ARUBA ARIBA!!

AntiliaantjuH8002Boy. Makes me wonder If anyone down there cares that a Child was killed! I know that if any of ur Children came to our country and a man from the here killed her/him, I would want him to be in the dirtiest prison my government could find and treated like the pig he is. I hope to God u never feel the heartache of losing a child.

during the whole year their is almost no rain on the island of Aruba, maybe it can rain for about 5 /6 minutes 1/2 day in 3 /4 months, we arubans get more happy when it rains here because it never rains on the island, but i can tell you in the month of nov. / dec. it always rains alot more, and the beaches are rough (waves) we call it fin di anja…

  39. TheArubaariba on May 31st, 2010 2:01 pm

@ jrjr143: the kukukunuko bus still exist, there alot of new nightclubs and bars on the island! you, and their all close to the hotel, you have the south beach bar, rembrand bar, buster bar, chino latino is kinda like a nightclub and bar, grammys as far as i know still exist, there is to big malls right next tot he hotel! you should visit again, you’ll be surprised! it has changed completly! infront of the holiday in hotel where it had first just plants, their builing a big and luxury condominiu

I went to Aruba the other week, it was pretty nice. Lovely restaurants, buildings in Oranjestad, road layout a bit confusing. One thing I found very interesting is that although they have their own currency, most prices I saw were in posted in US$. I didn’t realize it was an Arid climate, i didn’t know that existed in the caribbean. JrJr rain = lush tropical vegetation, and 9 times out of 10, in Barbados the rain showers only last 10 minutes or so, and occur on isolated parts of the island.

  42. AmedeoLuttwak on May 31st, 2010 2:55 pm

Aruba is great..and they have great music (Grupo di Betico) and the nicest people!!!!!

  43. jrjr143 on May 31st, 2010 3:23 pm

it rains a hell of a lot more in barbados/ and if you are only away for 7 days, who wants to deal wt 3 days of rain!!! aruba the rain last for 15 min !!!!!

  44. jrjr143 on May 31st, 2010 3:34 pm

lucky you!! whats new for nightclubs there, its been 2 years for me since i been there! is grammys still there? and i love the kukoo kunuko party bus! with our driver hyman and the host momma!!

  45. freakhalo11 on May 31st, 2010 4:29 pm

Im live in aruba Paradera :D !

  46. maikson97 on May 31st, 2010 5:25 pm

    i live in aruba

  47. marylous8 on May 31st, 2010 5:25 pm

well there must be something why thousands of people choose to vacation here in aruba…I think this is one of the reason, that we as aruban people don’t have to trash talk other places(islands)to get people to come here…if they want to spend a thousand dollar a night here why does that bother you…also about the golf courses ,we don’t one golf course get you facts right…and if you prefer barbados why bother to see an aruban video(just saying)PLEASE DON’T SPOIL THE GOOD VIBE ON THE VIDEO

  48. TdotSoul on May 31st, 2010 5:25 pm

An actuall clubbing district with something for everyone, 10x as many golf courses, all the infrastructures and services and activities that Aruba has and more, but there are actual rivers, lakes, jungles with plants that grow higher than 4 feet in a natural setting, monkeys, a zoo, a few cave networks and all that for less than half the price. The only thing is see people doing in aruba videos is people driving jeeps around the desert. How is that woth at least 270 in high season.

  49. TdotSoul on May 31st, 2010 5:37 pm

no disrespect but why would anyone pay $130/night (Low Season) to stay on a windswept, overdeveloped little island with one golf course minimal beaches, and natural areas are for all intents and purposes a scrubby desert. What can you find in Aruba that you couldn’t get in Barbados for $88/night in high season,. Barbados has a better range, from $55US in high season to almost $20000US, Barbados has 10x the beaches Aruba has, 10x beautiful cliff scenery, people just as friendly, equally good food
