Suggestions for a Caribbean Cruise or All Inclusive Resort?

Can you answer terry m’s question about Caribbean?:
My wife and I are planning a vacation for this fall. We are wondering if most people would suggest a cruise or an all inclusive resort.
We have never been on a cruise. What cruise would you suggest in the Caribbean?
We have been to the Moon Palace resort in Cancun, but would prefer to go somewhere else, any recommendations other than Mexico?
Would like an all inclusive with nice pools and lazy river.

Caribbean Feedback: you must check out couples negril,Jamaica. we got married there last year it was fantastic, food,service,entertainment,trips out. no-one has a bad review of the hotel.
Caribbean Feedback: I like Royal Caribbean cruises…. they cost a little more but the ships are much more elegant, bigger and comfortable…(carnival cruises are kind of spartan and the rest have too many kids) Unfortunately most of the best all inclusive resorts are in the Cancun/Riveria Maya area… The other islands with lots of all inclusive’s are Jamaica and Hispanola (Dominican Republic), and I recommend AGAINST those.. (they are good if you intend on STAYING in the resort, but unsafe when you leave the resort).. If you like to explore try Grand Caymen, Aruba or St Maarten… But they are not big on the all inclusives.. All are very SAFE (despite the natalie h. thing, Aruba is a great place) and you’ll have lots to do, and relax if you so choose.
Caribbean Feedback: here is some info i saw on the Today Show a couple of days ago, it gives all the basic info and outrageous rates on resorts.

Caribbean Feedback: Many of the Iberostar hotels and Barcelo and Excellence Hotels have lazy rivers and OUTSTANDING Pools – I am not a big cruise fan but have been to LOTS of AI’s all around the carribean
My favorites for All Inclusivies are Riviera Maya ( nothing like Cancun) – Jamaica – Dominican Repulic – all have nice beachs and a good pool scene if your into that and it sounds like you are
Also Secrets and Dreams properties are great.. but no lazy rivers and ok pools.. but excellent food and service
Its hard to beat places like the ABC islands , Kitts etc.. but not so easy to find a good AI
