Caribbean Feedback: In a word:
“No”.
In more than a few words:
While beaches in the Caribbean vary widely depending on where exactly you travel to, in general I would say that if you are looking for the “picture-perfect” tropical beach that you see in travel brochures, your average beach in the Caribbean is going to fit the description much better than a beach in the Florida Keys. Beaches in the Keys tend to be rocky and small, although there are some with a decent amount of sand that get rated well in the lists of “Best Beaches”.
Caribbean Feedback: No
The caribbean islands are paradise while the keys are crouded with tourists because they cant afford to go to the caribbean islands
At the caribbean islands there are more things to do and it is more like a vacation
The people there are authentic and it is has the same weather as Florida, just a way better surrounding
(by the way i live in Florida and have been to both places)
Caribbean Feedback: NO… they are much dirtier… but still much cleaner than those filthy, oil stained beaches on the Texas gulf coast.
Caribbean Feedback: No WAY!
Caribbean Feedback: No. The clarity of the water is different in the Caribbean…the turquoise waters are nothing in comparison to Florida keys…the Caribbean is clear, blue with powder white sand. The scenery is tropical, not as commericialized as in Florida…and the wildlife is amazing in the tropics.
And I have yet to find the water smelling bad in the tropics…at least where I’ve been never a problem…when I was in Florida down by one of the keys, I didn’t like the smell that came from the water.
Caribbean Feedback: Not in Key West. As the posts above have stated, those beaches are small and rocky. Key West is much better for restaurants and bar hopping and that whole Jimmy Buffet lifestyle thing.
But there are several beaches, esp Bahia Honda, along the stretch of the Keys that are very nice. I still think the Caribbean beats them, but you can’t drive to the Caribbean.
