Any suggestion for a Caribbean vacation?

Can you answer Trouble’s question about Caribbean?:
So it looks like a Caribbean vacation is the best way to go for the best deals and prices for the vacation I am planning on going on, but I have no idea what island to go to… Any suggestions? The more detailed the answer the better (and more likely to be chosen best answer). Thanks!

Caribbean Feedback: When are you going? Caribbean is best January-April. Avoid going July-October if the island in question is prone to hurricanes (.e.g Grand Cayman).
Do you like all inclusive holidays? Some islands don’t have them – you need to check. I prefer those because you know all of the costs in advance and you avoid nasty expensive surprises.
I’d suggest Barbados which has lovely beaches and lots of things to do. Hire a car and go round the island….see monkeys, lovely tropical flowers, and old sugar mills.
I also like Antigua – again lots of history and things to do.
St Lucia is really beautiful …it has lovely beaches and is also volcanic so you get the best of both….hot springs and nice beaches but not long beach walks (they are all short beaches).
Grand Cayman is very nice if you like diving but it is very expensive.
A lot of folk like St Martin/Maarten because the island is both French and Dutch and you get to experience a lot of different things on the one island.
Now here’s a thought….if you haven’t much experience of the Caribbean the best way to see it the first time around is to take a cruise so that you can experience a number of places. In fact I’d suggest a couple of cruises in successive years with different destinations so that you can experience as much as possible. Later you can book a holiday on the island you really like!
I’d suggest a 10 day southern caribbean cruise on Princess or Holland America or Royal Caribbean. Avoid Carnival unless you like a very young party crowd.
Caribbean Feedback: It depends when and where you’d be coming from. It also depends on what you want to do, i.e. if nightlife is involved and so on, if you want casino, to sightsee and so on.
Hurricane season runs from June 1 until November 30. So the ABC (Aruba, Bonaire and Curaco) islands are out of that belt as well as Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados basically out of there, too.
If you’re from the U.S., you can check into for a complete package to suit your budget if you have one.
Apple Vacations: (although the cities are limited)
FunJet Vacations:
I highly recommend Barbados due to personal experiences especially as where safety is concerned as compared to other islands. Great nightlife there. It also depends if you want only an English speaking country or it does not matter. St. Lucia is good, too because of its natural beauty.
